Every computer runs on billions of logic gates, but have you ever wondered what they actually look like?
Well, here is an AND logic gate built from six transistors, and here's the schematic for how the transistors are connected together.
These transistors take two inputs on these wires, and when both are on, the output is a 1.
If either or both inputs are 0, then the output is 0.
How does this work? Well, let's set both inputs at 1 volt.
Traducción al español: ¿Cómo funciona esto? Bueno, pongamos ambas entradas a 1 voltio.
As a result, these two transistors turn on, and the ground rail is connected through this wire to the input of this other transistor over here,
which turns on when connected to 0 volts, and thus is on.
1 volt then travels from the power rail through this transistor, up the wire, and then to the output.
